MEET THE FOUNDERS
LUIS TORRES
CO- FOUNDER
Starting at the age of three, I have lived a sports-focused lifestyle and played in multiple competitive settings where I established a foundation of discipline and grit. As I consider that my journey in sports has been built around hardships, obstacles, skill and personal development instead of a talent that was naturally born inside me. In this process, I learned how sports can play a foundational role in one's life, and this has driven me to make a positive impact on future generations through sports.
DIEGO RIVERO
CO- FOUNDER
From a young age, I have been immersed in the world of sports and have been fortunate enough to play a variety of disciplines, each teaching me different foundational skills that have contributed to my growth both on and off the court. I have always been drawn to the competitive environments of sports, which has driven me to strive for excellence in all aspects of my athletic pursuits. My passion for sports led me to discover tennis at the age of six, and I quickly fell in love with the game. I have had the privilege of competing for various teams over the years, and my experiences culminated in earning us a place in the State Championship.
Meet The COACHES
COACH ALI
My name is Ali and I grew up in Casablanca, Morocco. I was introduced to the world of sports at the age of four when I received my first Karate Gi. From that moment, I was hooked and discovered my passion for competition. This led me to experiment with multiple sports, including tennis, soccer, basketball, rugby, track and field, long jump, and ultimately volleyball. It was in volleyball that my former team and I achieved 3rd place at nationals.
COACH ANDRES
My journey playing tennis started when I was 6 years old in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. As I played in more tournaments and ranked up, I became a ranked tennis player in the National Tennis Association of Venezuela. When I turned 12, I moved to the US and continued to play tennis throughout middle school and high school. This foundation helped me pursue other disciplines and arts through extracurricular activities and connect with an athletic lifestyle.
COACH ANDREW
Hello! My name is Andrew Lucky, and I am from Chesapeake, Virginia. I was first introduced to volleyball in 6th grade by my older sister, who also played. From there, I pursued the sport and participated in travel volleyball at the Coastal Volleyball Club and high school volleyball at Grassfield High School. I was inspired to become a volleyball coach due to the impact my coaches had on me in improving both my volleyball and interpersonal skills. My coaching philosophy is to get 1% better each time you practice and step on the court. To me, this means working to improve at least one skill slightly by giving your best effort.
COACH CONNOR
Tennis has always held a special place in my heart, and its dynamic and team-oriented nature inspired me to become a coach. My journey in the sport began at a young age, playing with my dad on the weekends. As I grew older, so did my skills and passion for the game. I had the privilege of being coached by some incredible mentors who instilled in me the value of leadership and mentorship. Witnessing the transformative power of coaching on and off the court fueled my desire to pass on this knowledge and enthusiasm to the next generation of players.
COACH JASON
Volleyball has been a passion of mine since my school years. As a player, I was dedicated to perfecting my skills and technique, but it was the bonds and relationships I formed with my teammates that kept me coming back. Now, as a coach, I strive to inspire and motivate my players to become not only better athletes, but also better people. Seeing my players grow and develop on and off the court is what inspires me to continue coaching.
COACH JENISE
Volleyball has been a passion of mine since my school years. As a player, I was dedicated to perfecting my skills and technique, but it was the bonds and relationships I formed with my teammates that kept me coming back. Now, as a coach, I strive to inspire and motivate my players to become not only better athletes, but also better people. Seeing my players grow and develop on and off the court is what inspires me to continue coaching.
COACH NICOLE
As a coach, I am passionate about providing a positive environment for kids to have fun while learning the game of volleyball. Having played volleyball myself since the age of 12, I bring a wealth of personal experience to my coaching. I believe that the lessons learned on the court can carry over into life, and I strive to instill discipline, teamwork, and dedication in my players.
COACH JUSTIN
It’s always been a dream of mine to be a coach. I’m a huge sports enthusiast, and I fell in love with the game of volleyball through gym class in school. As a coach, I hope to inspire and cultivate my passion and love for sports within a safe and enjoyable environment. My aim is to nurture them as athletes and as individuals, equipping them with lessons that will resonate throughout their lives. I utilized this approach to guide my college club to success.
COACH MARIA
I have been involved in sports all my life, at both competitive and recreational levels. I grabbed my first tennis racket at the age of 11 in Venezuela and have loved the game ever since. I was so focused on trying to execute clean forehands and backhands that I got carried away from what truly matters, which is focusing on improving every day and never giving up. Now, I have started teaching tennis because I love helping people learn to play the game. As a coach, I believe having fun is an important part of teaching and learning tennis.
COACH MOLLY
Hello, I'm Molly! My volleyball journey began in 4th grade, and my passion for the sport has only grown since. Throughout my school years, I honed my skills and technique. Fueled by my love for volleyball, I became a coach at my local YMCA over 3 years ago. My goal is to empower and inspire young players to think creatively, work as a team, and develop essential skills and discipline for life.
COACH SHANNON
I started playing volleyball in the seventh grade. It's a sport that brings me so much joy, and coaching volleyball is something relatively new to me. I never considered coaching until another coach encouraged me to try; I have been hooked since. This sport teaches valuable skills both on and off the court. Every athlete has something valuable to give and learn, regardless of skill level. As a coach, you have to be able to adjust to each athlete's needs and the team as a whole.
